Geneva agreement on Ukraine unravels

Ukraine Agreement
unravels in one day:

The Geneva agreement between EU/USA and Russia on the crisis in Ukraine has already begun to unravel and although the basic principles stated are worthy there are no concrete proposals for implementation on the ground.

The agreement is too vague to offer any real assurances that the rights of citizens who oppose the Kiev Junta will be respected and more importantly, protected against the threats by the militant factions of the Junta who continue to make belligerent statements.

The Donetsk Republicans and the groups occupying other city administrative buildings in Eastern Ukraine are correct to hold on to their locations as long as the Kiev Junta, which is, in fact, “occupying” the Ukraine parliament building without any legal authority whatsoever, continues to pretend to be the Government of Ukraine is dissolved and put out of business forthwith.

The text of the Geneva Agreement is as follows:

The Geneva meeting on the situation in Ukraine agreed on initial concrete steps to de-escalate tensions and restore security for all citizens.

All sides must refrain from any violence, intimidation or provocative actions. The participants strongly condemned and rejected all expressions of extremism, racism and religious intolerance, including anti-semitism.

All illegal armed groups must be disarmed; all illegally seized buildings must be returned to legitimate owners; all illegally occupied streets, squares and other public places in Ukrainian cities and towns must be vacated.

Amnesty will be granted to protestors and to those who have left buildings and other public places and surrendered weapons, with the exception of those found guilty of capital crimes.

It was agreed that the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission should play a leading role in assisting Ukrainian authorities and local communities in the immediate implementation of these de-escalation measures wherever they are needed most, beginning in the coming days. The U.S., E.U. and Russia commit to support this mission, including by providing monitors.

The announced constitutional process will be inclusive, transparent and accountable. It will include the immediate establishment of a broad national dialogue, with outreach to all of Ukraine’s regions and political constituencies, and allow for the consideration of public comments and proposed amendments.

The participants underlined the importance of economic and financial stability in Ukraine and would be ready to discuss additional support as the above steps are implemented.

Obama’s denunciations of Russia for “interfering” in Ukraine continue the brazen lies and distortions that have characterised the statements of US and European officials, amplified by the western whore press, since the onset of the crisis in Ukraine. Anyone who has been following the events knows that it is Washington, Berlin and the European Union that provoked the crisis by orchestrating the overthrow of the elected, pro-Russian government of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych—interfering in the affairs of Ukraine by carrying out a putsch and utilising fascist parties and militias as their shock troops.

Armed protesters are still in control of the city of Slavyansk, which forces loyal to the Kiev Junta attacked earlier this week. Pro-Russian protesters continue to control state buildings in ten major cities in eastern Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed the extremely tense situation, responding to a question in a prime-time interview on Russian television yesterday.

“The people in the eastern regions have started arming themselves,” Putin said. “And instead of realising that something isn’t right in the Ukrainian state and moving toward a dialogue, Kiev began threatening more force and even moved in tanks and planes against the peaceful population. This is yet another very serious crime of Ukraine’s current rulers.”

The Kiev Junta placed a fascist in charge of "National Security" after the 22 February coup. Andriy Parubiy was appointed secretary (the operational head) of the "National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine". Between 1998-2004 he was the leader of the Patriots of Ukraine, the paramilitary wing of what would go on to become the Svoboda party. In 2012, the British SUN newspaper exposed this groups involvement in training football hooligans.

On Tuesday, Andriy Parubiy, head of the Junta formed "Ukrainian National Security Council", went on Twitter to declare, “Reserve unit of National Guard formed #Maidan Self-defense volunteers was sent to the front line this morning.” Parubiy was referring to the neo-Nazi militias that provided the organized muscle that overthrew Yanukovych, forcing him to flee for his life. Some of these militias have since been incorporated into security forces as “National Guard.”

Parubiy himself is a well-known neo-Nazi, who founded the Social-National Party of Ukraine in 1991. The party blended radical Ukrainian nationalism with neo-Nazi symbols. Parubiy also formed a paramilitary spinoff, the Patriots of Ukraine, and defended the awarding of the title, “Hero of Ukraine,” to World War II Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandera, whose own paramilitary forces exterminated thousands of Jews and Poles in pursuit of a racially pure Ukraine.

During the months of protests aimed at overthrowing Yanukovych, Parubiy became the commandant of “Euromaidan” the name for the Kiev uprising, and  after the Feb. 22 coup Parubiy was one of four far-right Ukrainian nationalists given control of a ministry, i.e. national security. But, the U.S.  and Western whore press has played down his role because his neo-Nazism conflicts with Official Washington’s narrative that the neo-Nazis played little or no role in the “revolution.” References to neo-Nazis in the “interim government” are dismissed as “Russian propaganda.”

Yet there Parubiy was on Tuesday bragging that some of his neo-Nazi storm troopers – renamed “National Guard” – were now being unleashed on rebellious eastern Ukraine as part of the Kiev Junta’s “anti-terrorist” operation. The post-coup "Acting" President Oleksandr Turchynov (No such post in the Ukraine constitution) also warned that Ukraine was confronting a “colossal danger,” but he insisted that the suppression of the pro-Russian protesters would be treated as an “anti-terrorist” operation and not as a “civil war.”

Everyone should understand by now that “anti-terror” suggests extrajudicial killings, torture and “counter-terror.”

Yet, with much of the Ukrainian military of dubious loyalty to the coup regime, the dispatch of the neo-Nazi militias from western Ukraine’s Right Sektor and Svoboda parties represents a significant development. Not only do the Ukrainian neo-Nazis consider the ethnic Russians an alien presence, but these right-wing militias are organised to wage street fighting as they did in the February uprising.

Historically, right-wing paramilitaries have played crucial roles in “counter-terror” campaigns around the world. In Central America in the 1980s, for instance, right-wing “death squads” did much of the dirty work for U.S.-backed military regimes as they crushed social protests and guerrilla movements in El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua. In Colombia, right wing paramilitaries, financed by Washington carried out wholesale slaughter of Community and Trade Union activisits opposed to the government in Bogota.

The merging of the concept of “anti-terrorism” with right-wing paramilitaries represents a potentially frightening development for the people of eastern Ukraine. And much of this information – about Turchynov’s comments and Parubiy’s tweet  can be found in a New York Times’ dispatch from Ukraine.

Why would the protesters hand over their arms to these gangsters?

Propaganda war continues

John Kerry rushed out to the media in Geneva waving a fake document purporting to be an anti-semitic restriction on Jewish people in the Donetsk district. The vileness of the propaganda by Washington's muppets knows no bounds:

Donetsk Republicans denounced the document as a forgery manufactured by pro-Junta
supporters:

"Donetsk People’s Republic is in no way responsible for the hideous anti-Semitic leaflet that is being passed off as a document issued in the republic’s name.

The government of Donetsk People’s Republic represents a multi-ethnic community and does not tolerate any discrimination on racial, ethnic or religious grounds. The insinuations contained in the leaflet are absurd and unfounded. Members of the Jewish community are among the most active supporters of the Donetsk resistance movement.

This piece of heavy-handed propaganda was fabricated to sow the seeds of discord among the people of Donetsk region. It is a forgery that should not mislead anyone. We stand united and unshaken.

Once again we would like to stress that this is a crude forgery intended to deceive unsuspecting outsiders. Its spurious nature is exposed already in the heading, where the Donetsk People’s Republic is called “Independent Donetsk Republic”. The “document” is not signed. Denis Pushilin, whose name appears at the bottom, is not and has never been the republic’s governor.

This forgery was put together and circulated by Boris Filatov’s aides. Filatov is the official who suggested on his Facebook page that those Ukrainians who had risen up against the new government in Kiev should be hanged as soon as the situation stabilises.

Filatov is a close associate of the oligarch Igor Kolomoysky. Following the coup in February, Kolomoysky was appointed governor of Dnepropetrovsk region by the illegitimate authorities in Kiev.

In addition to the slanderous anti-Semitic proclamation, Filatov’s henchmen fabricated another leaflet, a so-called “Manifesto of the Donetsk Republic”. It makes public, as it were, such outlandish initiatives as compulsory military service, all-out mobilization, imposition of new taxes on business owners, arbitrary confiscations of private property, introduction of a food rationing system etc.

Both “documents” are poorly concocted pieces of defamatory propaganda. Their only objective is to shock outside observers and to misrepresent the aims and ideals of Donetsk People’s Republic.

Washington's long term agenda continues to be to "contain" and "de-stabilise" Russia as part of their obsession with control of the Eurasian landmass as a perceived threat to US economic dominance of the world. Thus, the revival of the "Russian Threat" is designed to herd the panicky Euro leaders closer into the NATO corral and force them to expand their defence budgets which provides extra sales for the US military-industrial complex whose oligarchs dictate Washington foreign policy anyway.

The U.S.A. accounts for close to 40% of the world’s military expenditures, compared to some 10% by China and 5.5% by Russia.  The Aerospace and Defence Industry contributes close to 3% of GDP and is the single largest positive contributor to the nation’s balance of trade.  America’s three largest arms companies—Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Boeing—are the world’s largest, employing some 400,000 hands, and all but corner the world’s market in their “products.”  Of late, defence contracting firms have grown by leaps and bounds in a nation-empire increasingly reluctant to deploy conventional "boots on the ground".  These corporate contractors provide an ever greater ratio of contract support field personnel, many of them armed, over regular army personnel.  Eventually, in Operation "Enduring Freedom" in Afghanistan and Operation "Iraqi Freedom" private contract and regular military personnel were practically equal. "Freedom" meaning freedom for the US monopolies to exploit the invaded countries.

This note of the tip of America’s military iceberg is but a reminder of President Dwight Eisenhower’s forewarning, in 1961, of an “immense military establishment” in lockstep with “a large arms industry. . . acquiring unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought,” injurious to democracy.  At the time, Eisenhower could hardly have imagined the expanded growth and political weight of this military-industrial complex or the emergence, within it, of a corporate-contract mercenary army.

The determined oligarchy of arms makers and merchants at the heart of the military-industrial complex fields a vast army of lobbyists in Washington.  In recent years the arms lobby, writ large, spent countless millions during successive election cycles, its contributions being all but equally divided between Democrats and Republicans.  And this redoubtable octopus-like “third house” is not about to sign on to substantial cuts in military spending, all the less so since it moves in sync with other hefty defence-related lobbies, such as oil, which is not likely to support the down-sizing of the US Navy which, incidentally, is far and away the largest plying, and  patrolling, the world’s oceanic trade routes. The permanent war agenda still applies.
